Buffet Fantasy Shaved Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shaved beef

  • 1/3 cup coconut aminos

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons duck fat

  • 6 calabrian chili peppers

  • 1 star anise

  • 1 tbsp saigon cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp white pepper

  • 1 tsp fennel

  • 1 tsp cloves

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

  • 1/3 cup beef broth or water

  • 1/2 cup turbanado sugar

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • 4 stalks green onions, chopped


Recipe

  1. Whisk coconut aminos and cornstarch together. Marinate beef in mixture for 30 minutes

  2. Heat duck fat with chili peppers until the peppers sizzle. Stir in star anise, cinnamon, white pepper, fennel, cloves, and cumin until fragrant. Add ginger and garlic and stir for 30-60 seconds.

  3. Dump shaved beef and marinade in the spices. Spread out and cook until one side is browned. Flip until all sides nicely browned.

  4. Pour beef broth, sugar, fish sauce and green onions in to beef mixture. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  5. Serve with rice.
